Lloyd Daniels Through to Next Round of X Factor

Lloyd Daniels is safely through to the next round of the X Factor after tonight's earlier public vote. He will now be appearing again next week with the other 10 acts who survived.

Lloyd Daniels – X Factor Live Show 1

Lloyd Daniels (aka Cheryl's "little popstar") made his first live appearance on the X Factor last night, eighth on stage out of the twelve finalists.

Singing Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River", it was a fairly low-key performance that Lloyd gave. Like Rikki Loney who had appeared earlier in the evening, there was nothing that really stood out and he certainly didn't show us anything we hadn't seen already.

Again, like most of the contestants, this being his first live show, he took a few lines to get into his stride, but his pitching was a bit all over the place throughout the song.

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad performance, it just didn't really deliver anything new.

The judges were all positive though. I wonder if the judges (particularly Simon Cowell) have decided to go easy on the contestants in the first week of the live shows, to break them in gently?

I hope that Lloyd Daniels gets a bit more adventurous as the finals progress and that his pitching improves as he overcomes his nerves. Whatever happens though, he certainly won't be voted off the X Factor for a while yet with the legions of female supporters he has!

Can Lloyd Daniels Win the X Factor?

Can Lloyd Daniels win the X Factor? He's definitely in with a good chance.

Lloyd Daniels is a fresh-faced 16-year old student from South Wales who, before auditioning for the X Factor, had only ever performed in the school play and done a bit of Karaoke.

As a result of his inexperience, when he stood in front of the judges and the 3,000-strong audience in Cardiff, he was understandably very nervous.

The judges seemed to like the fact that he had chosen to sing Jason Mraz's song "I'm Yours", but things soon started to go wrong when his nerves seemed to get the better of him. Fortunately Cheryl Cole stopped him mid-song because she wanted to see what he could do once he'd got those initial nerves out of the way.

Simon Cowell agreed and asked him to sing another song acapella. He did a much better job of this one, receiving smiles from the judges and a standing ovation from the audience. His dad looked pretty pleased backstage too, saying "go on my son!"

Result? Four yeses from the judges and Cheryl telling him he had the X Factor!

Things have not always been easy for Lloyd. When he was 11 years old, he nearly died from kidney failure, losing four stone in the process.

He's been tipped to win the competition by former X Factor finalist Niki Evans, although singer and previous "Pop Idol" winner Will Young (who helped Cheryl decide on which three boys to put through to the final) has expressed concerns about his age and whether he'll be able to cope with the pressure.

He's definitely a hit with the young female audience though and he does have a good, strong voice once he's able to control the nerves.

So can Lloyd Daniels win the X Factor? A growing army of teenage girl fans seem to think he can!
